Into the Blue Yonder, 2020
acrylic on hanji paper, wood
210 x 330 x 3.3 cm
Cerulean blue, conveying the notion of "truth" for the artist, covers the entire surface of the work.
The surface is made of Hanji which is Korean paper, in a grid pattern which re ects the grid of a square window. Going further back in Seo's memory of growing up in Hanok in Korea, the windows and doors framed her view seeing from inside,
in uenced the way she sees the world through a framing device.
In the work, Into the Blue Yonder (2020), there is a moment of re ection, a pause before we goes out into reality.
